State Route 147, Jackson Twp, 63-1 Box dispatched approx around 945am. Amb 62 got a call for chemical burns and upon picking up the male patient the ambulance crew became overwhelmed by fumes and had trouble breathing so called county to dispatch for a possible hazmat incident.
Engine 63 responded and once on scene ambulance crew put oxygen on themselves as hazmat and county officials were requested to the scene. Engine 63 went to residence where man was picked up at to check on those residents as well as two other locations in the borough that the man showed up through out the morning. E62 was requested for man power and also to land life flight who was called for the man.
Still unsure of the chemical exactly or the story of how he got into Herndon whether it was by train or some other method.
Two emts were deconed and transported to geisinger medical center where they were both released later in the afternoon. Male patient was flown to leigh high burn center for treatment and after DEP tested everything there was nothing found on the scene or on the equipment or clothing to say what the chemical was.
